Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, raised in Wellington) is a Canadian actor from Canada. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's acting debut was as Flora McGrath. For this role she received an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. She was the second youngest winner in Oscar history. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian birthed New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won her the Academy Award for best support actress. The role she played as the enthusiastic and lively girl of Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) brought her the award. When she responded to a request for auditions, she was able to audition at age nine, and with little acting experience before that the actress was chosen for Flora McGrath's role. Flora was the daughter of an Scottish pianist, who was deaf. They relocated from Scotland to New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century in an effort to get married. In her teens her family relocated to the United States. Paquin began her career in the midst of her childhood with a part as the Jane Eyre title character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre as well as she played a significant role of Fly Away Home. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the Spanish queen in a lesser character. She played teenage girls in of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and portrayed her Polexia Aphrodisa character on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
