Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. They grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he played with three of his brothers for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in across the country. For three seasons as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In 1975, Selmon was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was named the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work throughout his time at college. He settled down in Tampa after graduation, and playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and played three times in the all-pro league. His business career began. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when he played college football. The year 1975 was the first time he led the team. In 1993, Roy joined the university of south Fla's athletic department as its assistant director. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
